Fidel Monk
A Foyer Cozy Concert
Fidel Monk has spent the last 30-odd years touring the world and writing songs, and he’s never once managed to colour inside the lines. Not that he minds; the good stuff tends to happen outside them.
Armed with a booming voice and a rhythm section that hits like a freight train, Fidel has released or contributed to 20+ studio albums, clocked up serious airtime on ABC, PBS and RRR, and helped found a run of much-loved (and wonderfully named) 90s Victorian folk bands: Mongolian Fishmongers, Not The Wolf, and McAlpine’s Fusiliers among them.
Along the way he’s also lent his voice and guitar to the likes of The Go Set and The Real McKenzies.
These days he’s touring his latest record, ‘Winchelsea Blues’, a whiskey-warmed collection of whimsical, unreleased storytelling folk, punk n’ blues. Full band, full noise: guitars, fiddle, mandolin, trumpet, harmonica, banjo and drums all in the mix. Backed by a crew of top-shelf musos, expect singalongs, raucousity, twangin’ guitars, and a proper fill of goodness to end your season.
Pay-what-you-can and join us for a cozy evening of live music in the Foyer of The Ararat Town Hall.
