The Runaway Strings
A Foyer Cozy Concert
The Runaway Strings are an Ararat-based trio whose music is shaped by folk, bluegrass, blues and country traditions, built around acoustic instruments, close musical interplay and a direct, unvarnished approach to songwriting. Their sound balances humour and reflection, drawing on traditional influences while keeping a clear sense of their own voice. Since forming in 2023 they have developed a live sound built on guitar, banjo, ukulele, harmonica and vocals, with an emphasis on performance that feels intimate, immediate and honest.
Their first releases, “Big Gold Watch” and “Baby When It’s Gone, It’s Gone,” introduced two sides of the band’s writing: one sharp-witted and clear-eyed, the other more reflective and emotionally open. For the Blackwood album launch at Ararat Town Hall, the band brings that same approach to the stage: acoustic music, strong songs, and a performance style that feels close to the room. It’s a hometown show shaped by the sounds and stories that have helped define the band so far.
