Fidel Monk
Foyer Cozy Concert Series- Fidel Monk
Fidel Monk’s a troubadour who doesn’t just write songs, he harvests them from soil and soul. A storyteller with a wicked grin and natural stage energy. Fidel’s voice is part soot, part treacle, driven by a dusty guitar laced with gutsy punk energy. It’s raw, raucous, and proudly Australian made.
Aided by his trusty trumpet, his harmonicas, and two of the most wildly inventive musicians you’ll meet, it’s sure to be a ridiculous night of fun. Fidel will be playing tracks from his latest (and greatest) album Winchelsea Blues—an ode to hometowns, love, miscreants, and Aussie stories. Stream it wherever good songs are found, or head to https://fidelmonk.com
“As clever with a rollicking stomp, a driving blues lyric or smooth old-timey swing.”
— Noel Murphy, The Weekly Review
Music has been Fidel’s life since he was 16. A grinning journeyman, he’s toured the world with a six-string and had the privilege of working with many amazing artists such as NOFX, Bobby McFerrin, The Real McKenzies, Clare Bowditch, Dave Steele, Darren Hanlon, Bill Chambers, Rory McLeod, and more. He’s been a session muso, songwriter, mentor and workshop leader—conducting choirs in the desert, running songwriting workshops in Arnhem Land, and zigzagging the country in a little caravan.
He’s played festivals and dive bars, big stages and kitchen tables, wineries and train wrecks. None are safe from his heroic vocals, delightful six-string stylings, and impeccable fashion sense. Lock up your loved ones (with consent), get a pet-sitter, sell the silverware, and join us for a night of raucous awesomeness.
Meet the Winch Boys—together the trio bring dirt-road poetry and sharp wit to life:
Matiss Schubert – Fiddle, mandolin, accordion… and maybe a snarling Fender Strat. A musician’s musician, Matiss has played with legends like Jeff Lang, Ross Hannaford, and Kavisha Mazzella. He brings a virtuoso’s touch—whether it’s a weeping fiddle or a sharp Telecaster sting.
Sean Loughran – Drums, percussion, and anything else he can hit. A human rhythm machine, Sean doesn’t just keep time—he reinvents it. Chains, hammers, saucepans, house parts—if it makes noise, he’ll make it groove. Oh, and he’s a champion swing dancer, so don’t be surprised if the beat gets physical.
The performance will be held in the Ararat Town Hall Foyer.
Tables for four and cocktail tables will be available.
Drinks will be offered at bar prices from 5 pm, performance from 530 pm.
Feel free to drop by after work or bring your own platters or meals.
