Ararat Rural City Council is excited to launch an all-new community event, Skate into Summer, bringing an icy-cool escape to Ararat this December. From Friday 12 – Sunday 14 December, the Ararat Town Hall auditorium will be transformed into a festive indoor ice rink, complete with music, lighting, and activities for all ages.
Whether you’re a first-time skater or seasoned on the ice, there’ll be sessions to suit everyone.
Opening night – Friday 12 December – kicks things off with a celebration full of flavour and fun. Outside the Town Hall, you’ll find a line-up of local favourites serving up something for every appetite from 4pm, including Hippy Whippy Ice Cream, Smoke on the Weir smoked meats, Grab a Spoon acai bowls, and Grampians Ezy Eats, famous for their donuts, churros and tacos.
There’ll be something tasty for everyone, so come hungry and explore the treats on offer as you take in the action around the rink. The night will also feature live music, radio crosses with ACE Radio, late-night trading, and Carols by Candlelight in the gardens, setting the perfect festive mood to start the weekend.
Saturday 13 December brings a special 18+ Night of Skating and Live Music at Ararat Town Hall. From 7pm enjoy skating to a live DJ before the foyer comes alive at 8pm with a live band and open-mic karaoke. The bar will be open late, so loosen up those vocals and join in the fun. Tickets are available for the full evening (7pm skating and 8pm live band) or the live band session only.
We have a range of ticket options, from group family passes and quieter sensory sessions, plus spectators are free to watch from the balcony.
Skate into Summer isn’t just for skating pros – all skill levels and ages are welcome, and spectating is free from the balcony.

Tickets are available on the door; however, we recommend buying online, or visiting our box office located at

the Ararat & Grampians Visitor Information Centre or calling 1800 657 158 to avoid disappointment.

The skating surface will include a barrier. There will also be a rubber matting area where the skaters will walk within the skate fitting area, adjoining the ice rink. Helmets, skates and penguin learn to skate aids are all available.

A waiver is required to gain entry. There will be copies of the waiver at the venue on the day. Click here to read the waiver.
